Shortly after I started working at AOL, I developed a repetitive stress injury to my right thumb; as I tried to compensate, it moved to my left thumb too. And strain to my right elbow.

I wound up with:

  • 4 months PT
  • 6 months wearing ugly "flesh" colored support devices to work
  • a Kensington Expert Mouse
  • a weaker grip

So on my second day at Earthlink, I found someone to request an ergo keyboard, the Kensington Expert mouse, and an under-desk keyboard tray.

During the first week, the person I asked figured out who to ask.

During the second week, that person came and verified my request.

During the third week, she was out of town at the California office, but I did get the keyboard. Progress!

Today is Wednesday of my 4th week.

I bought my own Kensington Expert mouse last night. And got lost trying to get home from CompUSA.

Sometime today, an underdesk keyboard tray was installed under my test box. Not under my "real" computer. Now it is true that I want one there too, but I *need* one under the networked computer.

My thumbs hurt.

My elbow hurts.

I do not feel like I’m being listened to.

WHAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
