More and More Real
Posted by Liza under Personal
I’m sitting in the office in our condo in Reston, listening to the 3 guys from Armstrong Relocation packing up everything we own. That beats us packing it all, no doubt, but there’s something strange and hard and surreal about it. They’ll be here all day today, and again tomorrow from roughly 8-2.
Friday, they’ll load everything into a truck, and drive it to Decatur, arriving Tuesday of next week. Maybe Wednesday, the move coordinator told Jill yesterday.
Things I Won’t Miss
- Bringing groceries home across the parking lot, through the complex, and up 4 flights of stairs
- The next-door neighbors’ construction project
- Getting home late and having to park some random, far-away location that I have trouble remembering in the morning when I have to leave for work
Things I Will Miss
- Chinese food from MaMa Wok, especially the 3-Cup Chicken
- Running into Brandi and Parveer at MaMa Wok, while they have 3-Cup Chicken
- Our balcony up in the trees, especially on a warm spring evening
- My friends, my friends, my friends, my friends, my friends, my friends

You’re having the movers pack everything for you? Our movers offered the service to us, but we’re way to uncomfortable with having strangers pack up everything we own. Just come on down and take the big stuff, fellas. We’ll handle the rest.
Of course, I’m moving across town. Cross country is a whole different animal.

I do get that, but there was no way I’d stick Jill with all the packing responsibilities. And I’ve been in Atlanta since 1/8.
Plus, we didn’t have to pay for it. EarthLink is covering all the moving, and their relo automatically includes packing.
Of course, we did pack a few boxes of personal items, pictures, bank stuff etc and I took that with me when I drove down.
