This quarter, I’ve read 32 books, compared to 27 in the last quarter. 27 of them were new, 6 re-reads. I’m not sure what explains the uptick — more travel, maybe?
That works out to be an average of 10.7 books per month, or 9 new books per month. That’s a significant jump from the average of 6 new books, and 9 total books, per month last quarter.
The gender split of the books this quarter is pretty even: 50% women, 47% men, 3% mixed group. Men pull into the majority, 54%, if I remove the re-reads.
Looking at the lists, it appears that all of the authors are again white.
I’m not completely comfortable with that, especially considering that I used the Georgia Center for the Book’s list as a source point. Apparently I skipped the African American authors. I didn’t used to read so homogeneously.
The genre breakdown is (with some overlap between categories):
Young Adult: 10
Mystery: 5
Literature (including Fantasy): 8
History & Essays: 3
Biography & Memoir: 4
Non-Fiction/Educational: 4
Lucky Me for Having Read Them Books of the Quarter:
The Time Traveler’s Wife
Hypocrite in a Pouffy White Dress
Bun in the Oven
And especially lucky for me, I didn’t read anything I hated this quarter.
