Yesterday I ate a banana, 7/8 of an apple, a half cup of applesauce, a baked potato, and roughly 3/4 of a cup of mixed veggies (broc, cauliflower & carrots).

I feel a little silly making blog entries like this — I think they must be horribly boring for you.

But they really work for me. I don’t WANT to write an entry that says "the closest thing I had to fruit today was the juice in the yogurt drink and a piece of iceberg lettuce in a sandwich." Which was about how it was going in the few weeks before I started recording it here.

if you want a sympathetic audience, stop by the gym rats board at ivillage. i’ve been hanging out there daily for years, and it’s a great group of women. we post daily food logs. not everyone posts every day, but at least some people post every day. not only can you post your veggies without fear of boring people (though it doesn’t bore me!) but also they will be a good influence on you. overall, the women on the board eat really healthily and eat lots of fruits and veggies each day. you’ll be inspired to eat more to “keep up.”

you might even be inspired to get in a little exercise too. i’ve heard from several women lately who are convinced that staying active during pregnancy made labor go much more smoothly. you might not be pumping iron at the gym, but some nice walks would be great for you and smudge!

Thanks, Jen! I’ll go check them out. But I do think that being accountable to people I actually KNOW is helpful. You and Reno (and Jill) have been great in this conversation.

My doc and “medical kitchen cabinet” have also recommended staying active and exercising. I’m in a pre-natal yoga class near my house, which is great.

They briefly changed their class time so I couldn’t make it, but happily, I convinced them to split the difference and was able to go yesterday.

I’m also looking for somewhere to go swimming once or twice/week.

I’ve been meaning to write you and let you know that you inspired me to start eating better with these fruit & veg counts. I have wanted a website like Fertility Friend where you could chart your food & exercise habits and it would show you a pretty (or not so pretty) graph but this is a good compromise.

You’ll note that I am not courageous enough to post my f/v intake on my blog yet but I am doing MUCH better than before you got me in gear….
