First, sleep like crap for several nights in a row. Really deplete your energy reserves.

Second, get a little dehydrated.

Third, overdo it a little bit.

An evening at the mall during the week before Christmas is a good choice for overdoing it, especially since you’ll have to park far away from the entry, and you should have to wait in line in order to buy anything. This is especially effective if the two stores that you actually want to visit at the mall are nowhere near one another.

I suspect that this worked even better in light of my having gained over 40 lbs so far this pregnancy, and that Lil Smudge is now making frequent, large movements that generally involve at least a third  to half of my abdomen.

This technique works like a charm!* The only thing I remember after turning off the light was semi-waking up when Jill came in and kissed me goodnight. The next time I woke up, it was morning.

I don’t even remember the last time I slept through the night. May? June?

Fruit & Veg Count, 12/20: 2 organic gala apples, 1/2 cup mixed veggies (carrots, squash, snow peas).

* Of course, I can’t actually recommend doing this. Don’t get dehydrated. Don’t overdo it. You’re going to sleep like crap most nights anyway, so go ahead with that part.
