In no particular order, here are the chaotic things that have been happening over the last few days:

• The King has started spitting up. Till now, we were very lucky and had a "non-spitting-up" baby, but now, roughly 1/3 of the time when I burp him, he spits up. Today he soaked my shirt.
• The management company for the new place won’t give us a key to the mailbox. We have to get it from the post office. Of course they couldn’t tell us that when we signed the lease??? And there is 1 guy at the post office who deals with that, and we were given wrong information about when he can be reached by phone. Tomorrow we’re to try between 6 and 8:30 am. That’s ok, we’ll be up.
• I had a great HR person to work with when I crafted my FLMA leave plan. Her baby was born about 2 weeks after The King. The guy I’m now working with is saying insane, totally wrong things that boil down to "no, you can’t come back part time." I know he’s wrong. My boss is supportive of me. But it is still HORRIBLY STRESSFUL.
• The King has not slept more than 3.5 hours in a week. Yesterday he wanted to eat more like every 2.5 hours. I think he must be stressed out too. After things settle down in our routine — he gets used to new place, new caregiver, less Mommy on demand — we’re going to try alternating nights for feeding him, so we each get a reasonable amount of sleep every other night. But that’ll be a few weeks still.

I’m off to buy a new baby monitor. The one we have gets a ton of interference and crackles so much that it makes me want to scream every time we turn it on.
