I Woke Up This Morning With…
Posted by Liza under The Real Live Boy
Noah contentedly sleeping on his tummy.
He did his now-expected shortly-before-midnight "help, I’m stuck on my tummy, and while you’re here, I’m hungry too!" cry last night. Jill checked on him, and he’d gotten face down, crammed into the corner of the crib, and he was FRUSTRATED. After getting him settled down, and back asleep on his back, in his crib, all was well.
We heard him wake up again and babble a bit, but since he didn’t sound upset, we left him alone and fell asleep ourselves.
This morning, Jill checked on him shortly after 6 am. There he was, contentedly sleeping on his tummy. Go Noah! Way to be content on your tummy!
(SIDS articles suggest that we should still put him down on his back until he’s a year old, but that between 4-7 months, when he can turn over by himself, it’s fine to let him stay asleep in another opsition. He’s also past the peak SIDS worry age, which is 2-4 months.)

Just found your blog off a comment on another site. You mentioned you had that test done where they shoot dye through your tubes and it was painful. I am about to have that test done and am very anxious about it. Any words of wisdom? Did the pain last a long time or minutes?

We loved this milestone as it meant Levi slept much longer. Now when we put him down he immediately either rolls onto his side or tummy to sleep. Enjoy!

Baby Fox, I couldn’t get to a blog page for you, so I’ll answer here. The 2 things I most recommend are:
1) Have someone else drive, and
2) Muscle relaxants (advil, at least)
The acute pain was only a couple of minutes, but took maybe an hour or more to completely quiet down. I know I still hurt while I was driving home.
Also, I got so tense trying to manage the pain without moving so they could see and do what they needed to see and do, that I had sore muscle pain for several days after.
Good luck. I hope all is well.

This is when we got the “back to sleep bag blanket” so (Jr., mostly) wouldn’t kick the blanket over his face. It was great! They have sleeveless for summer.
