Math Quiz

I had a great 8th grade math teacher. If only I could remember his name, I’m sure he would be very proud.

I got an F. It felt like 8th grade again! No wonder I became a designer… no Algebra.

Were you at RKMS too? Did you have Mr. Blatnik? He was great. Mr. Brittian? Not so much. I wandered my way through 8th grade math (pre-algebra). I’m now having to look up guides on the internet whn I help my SECOND GRADER with math! Yikes!
P.S. Is Noah still having trouble sleeping w/out nursing? Try the swing for naps. You may not find that advice in any book, but my kids would not settle in their cribs for naps until they were 5-6 months old. Up till then, cars, strollers and swings were my only options for daytime. Good luck!

No, I went to Eighth Street for middle school.
I can picture the guy — skinny, very 80s perm. He was a great teacher. In fact, he used a college “math for non-majors” textbook that was very interesting. Really!
Mark Woida, Rachel Wax, Belinda Berdes — I hope one of you finds your way here by googling yourself and leaves the answer in the comments!

Hi Liza! Okay, I haven’t seen or talked to you in how long?? You’re a mom?? So far I just have cats. LOL.
His name is Mr. Wertz! I hope I have the spelling right. I remember that he was always in the bookstore window on the 1st floor (blue!) at the beginning of the day. We had advanced math in the 8th grade science room (green!) & in the library - 3rd floor too. I’m not sure which one we used for 7th grade & which one for 8th. I actually thought it was a lot of fun!
I’m living in Los Angeles. I moved her from Chicago in 2000. I came to be an actor and writer, but mostly I’m a secretary at the Disney Studio in Burbank. My sister Bethany also lives her and works at Warner Bros. just 4 blocks away!
I’m leaving work and will post more later.
You just JUST the same by the way.

It worked! It worked! Or so I assume anyway, since prior to now, I have no reason to think that Belinda was secretly reading the blog as a lurker.
That is so cool! Thanks for commenting, Belinda. And thanks for knowing the answer!!!

Hi Liza,
I remember that it was Mr. Wertz also. I loved that math book with the Escher drawing on the cover. That class really made us think.
What are you up to these days?
