It’s Like He Has A 6th Sense
Posted by Liza under The Real Live Boy
Within 10 minutes of when I am ready for bed, Noah is up, and hungry.
It doesn’t matter when I go to bed, or when he does. Sometimes he wakes up just as I’ve decided to go to bed. Today it was while I was brushing my teeth. Usually it’s just after I’ve crawled into bed.
Mind, we don’t co-sleep. He’s in his own room.
How does he do it? Am I raising a psychic with a mean sense of humor?

All babies have this. My babies, anyway. It’s a standard issue feature, and I’m sure there’s some evolutionary basis, but in the present-day world all it does is make one’s life a little more difficult.
Don’t worry, he will grow out of it, he will.
And on that note I’m going to go to bed myself and see if my own little Psychic Boy wakes up as soon as I hit REM.

Charlie is like this. Completely. And we keep pushing ‘our’ bedtime back later and later. I mean, we’re in bed, watching TV, and he is in bed with us, but asleep. So we’ll be tired, but won’t turn off the TV. Because we KNOW as soon as we get ready for bed, he’s up. We thought maybe it was the TV, so we would leave it on and just try to fall asleep. As soon as one of us was asleep, he’d be up. No matter how late we push it back, he wakes up within minutes of us falling asleep.
It’s what they do.
Babies are creepy.
