Actual, Factual Crawling
Posted by Liza under The Real Live Boy
Noah’s ability to propel himself in the direction of his choice has been improving on a daily basis for the last week, and today, he started really crawling.
At first, I wasn’t sure. He’d get himself up into forward-motion position, then put his face down and blow a raspberry on my leg. Crawling? Or trying but failing?
Then I picked up Noah’s toy remote, and started playing with the clicky buttons just out of his reach. He went into crawling position (a lot like downward dog, in yoga) and moved to grab it. Because I’m mean like that, I moved it another 6 inches out of range. Noah kept moving. In less than a minute, he’d crawled forward 5 feet.
I think our labor day project will be babyproofing.
That, and cleaning out the office/guestroom so that it functions plausibly as both by the following weekend, when Grandma comes to visit!

Gah!
Henry’s not even rolled over yet. I can’t imagine crawling!

Yay Noah!! You figured it out!! It was tough for me too but now that I got the legs and arms working together I love moving all over the house. Next thing you should try is pulling yourself to standing on the furniture and your mom’s houseplants. That’s a hoot. Anyways, I gotta go take a nap.

Hooray Noah! And good luck Mommies! This is so exciting, and it’s even better that you got to witness it.
We’re far from that point, but I’m starting now to remind myself to always close the basement gate, even if I’m just running down for laundry.

I’m thrilled that you are cleaning out the office/guest room since that will give Noah and me lots more places to explore. By the time we are done, he will be able to crawl to NY to visit Aunt Anna, Uncle Jason and Clio.
