I have to give another shout out to Dan at Bernaise Source, for handing me today’s New York Times, which has a page 1 story on nursing moms who pump at work.
As might be expected, this is becoming more common, and according to the article, “so accepted in white-collar circles that some women are completely matter-of-fact about it, pumping right in their open cubicles.” As the article points out, this is far from the case for working moms in service industry jobs.
I don’t know about you, but I would NOT have pumped in my cubicle, even though I will nurse at restaurants. But I love having an office and am pretty much exactly like those white collar moms in the article. I even have a teeny-weeny retro-looking fridge on my desk, so my milk doesn’t go in the 7th floor freezer.
