New Faves and Happy News
Posted by Liza under Personal
I am having a blast over at the forums on Babes in Blogland, which is hosted by the fabulous S.
Both Lizzie and Lizzy are also playing over there too, and I especially invite those of you who are pregnant or new moms who don’t blog yourselves to come check it out! (Carrie! Unnameable Pregnant People! I’m talking to you!
)
I also stumbled on a blog that actually has me considering running, something I have not willingly done since Nancy Hernandez made me her P.E. project in the 9th grade and coached me to my one and only A in the subject in my entire life. Check out these posts from Doctor Mama.
Finally, congratulations New Jersey! And thank you so much! The NJ Supreme Court ruled that not letting same-sex couples marry is discrimination, and gave the state legislature 180 days to fix the problem.

In honor of their Supreme Court’s intelligence and sanity, I hereby declare a one year moratorium, for myself, on making fun of New Jersey.

That blog is a riot–”taking bong hits from exhaust pipes of a diesel bus.”
And, yay, NJ!

The NJ decision is definitely exciting! And it looks like the anti-gay marriage proposition in Arizona is going to be defeated in a few weeks by a huge margin. Sure, it’s because people don’t agree with cutting off domestic partner benefits, but who cares?
I’ve just started running myself. Well, trying to. I just can’t get to the gym as often as I’d like. I’m TRYING to follow the Couch-to-5-k plan, but will probably have more success once I can actually run 3 or 4 times a week.
Oh, and thanks for the plug for the forums! I think we’re off to a great start there.

I’ll take good votes for any reason.
In fact, I appeared three times on right-wing-kook-tv because they were the only conservatives publicly opposing mandatory Internet filtering in schools and libraries that accept federal funding.
They opposed it because they don’t trust teachers and librarians to decide what should get filtered, and thought that meant that Planned Parenthood would be allowed while right to life groups would be blocked.
I agreed, that would be bad, and they felt all fair and balanced having me on their show.

Oh yeah, and although we ultimately lost that legislative fight, it was because of the right-wing groups that we dragged out the fight an extra year.
