The Results, So Far
Posted by Liza under Current Affairs, Opinion, PLLP
Noah had a very late nap this afternoon.
Actually, he only had a morning nap at school. Apparently the fact that they fired the new lead teacher who only started 2 months ago was too exciting for him to sleep. Yeah, another one of those on-the-spot, today, not about a danger to our children things. Um. Bye, Miss K.
So he napped from 5:30-6:30 pm, and then stayed up listening to the election results with us on NPR. (Our cable is out. But the Internet is working. WTF?)
Here’s Noah’s cheering when they announced that Senator Santorum was defeated!
There’s been no cheering about the anti-gay ballot measures, especially the two where Noah has grandparents, and especially especially the one where we thought we might have a chance, Wisconsin.
Maybe mommy will get to cheer later about the Democrats taking control of the House and/or the Senate.
PLLP 11/7: Fruit, 1 organic gala apple; Veg, um, I forgot veggies today; Treats, small bar of 77% cocoa chocolate that I could happily eat for the rest of my life only I have no willpower so I may have to try the actually full blown unsweetened chocolate to see if that is easier to stop eating, AND also pizza for dinner.
STRESSFUL ASIDE about cold meds and milk if you click more.I only managed to pump 6 oz today. Maybe 6.5. Usually I get between 11-15. And yesterday I only got 10. Meanwhile I have drunk nearly 2 quarts of mother’s milk tea.
I think it is the combo of being tired, since Noah has been a sick and sleepless baby, and decongestant, and cough suppressant.

In another note South Dakota did not pass the Ban on Abortion. And it looks like California and Oregon voters said “No” to Parental Notification.
…so at least there’s THAT.

ohh… and EWWW to the definition of “Santorum”. I was eating when I read that!

good riddance to santorum. too bad the only reason he was defeated was because he ran against an anti-gay, anti-choice, pro-war opponent.
as you can see, i must not have had enough sparks last night (or this morning?) because i don’t seem to be able to get it up over the election results.
on a brighter note, i’ve been updating my knitting blog, can i get back in the “active” column?

One of the highpoints of the election, other than the Democrats taking back the House (and hopefully the whole senate) is that Santorum was defeated, soundly. How do Log Cabin Republicans live with themselves when they’re helping to push discrimination and fear against themselves? Does the Cheney family ever cringe when they hear the hatred and fear their own party is pushing?

Oh, I love that picture of Noah. Baby Fist of Power working for the forces of good!
Man, I’m so chuffed that both the House AND the Senate went blue. I hadn’t allowed myself to dream that far. Disappointed of course about all the anti-gay measures. I just do NOT understand how gay marriage somehow threatens my straight marriage. Very sad that people are still so narrow-minded. I can but hope that the generation coming up will be more respectful of the differences among us all.

In an ironic twist that I haven’t had time to blog about yet, but will on the other blog asap, I have great hopes for the generation gap on this issue.
According to Dad, who is a professional politico in Wisconsin, there is no way Dems there would have been able to take control of the state senate or gain 4 of their 6 new seats in the state assembly, if the R’s hadn’t put the anti-gay initiative on the ballot.
Dems won those superclose elections because each district in question had a campus of the UW system in it, and students turned out very heavily to vote AGAINST the anti-gay intiative, and while they were at it, mostly voted for Democrats.
In other words, ha-ha, your homophobic strategy backfired.
