So if half of the already-recycled-once toys in the garrage were sent to the consignment shop, not only would (1) Noah still have way enough toys, and (2) Mama would have some unexepected cash, but (3) at least one of the cars might fit in the garrage.
Just a thought on an antidote to “frivilous spending” — since I did notice that far and away Noah’s favorite toys were the plastic refrig containers–with or without lids and almost anything to bang them with.
Reno nothing is environmentally unfriendly about a consignment shop, but if Liza and Jill pass on toys to her new nephew, then we won’t be buying new toys for him, and then by US passing them back to THEIR next baby we will conserve further.
My husband and I live in Manhattan, and not surprisingly there are not THAT MANY second hand toy/childrens shops here. There is only one Salvation Army shop and one church resale shop within a over mile from our apartment. So we have to take a bus and at least one subway for us to get to the other shops that are in Manhattan. Trying to negotiate toys etc back home on public transportation is also pretty tricky, and taking a taxi back from the areas where the other shops are seems like it would defeat the purpose of both being environmentally conscious and thrifty.
I am very skilled at justifying things. If you are a real life friend of Liza’s, I’m sure you will see that it runs in our family!
We will certainly be sharing toys with Noah’s forthcoming cousin.
Aunt Anna, you may want to wait and see what all arrives from the various showers and relatives before you volunteer to have your Manhattan apartment stacked with MORE baby gear and clothes and toys.
Right now, I believe we have 12 plastic bins (~12x15x15″) of baby clothing in the garage. All sizes smaller than 12 months. Plus a giant mound of 9-12 month stuff that I need to sort and store. Noah has outgrown 12 month shirts completely and I give the 12 month pants at most 2 more months.
Hey, I’m going to be in Manhattan next week! Want to come have tea at the Hilton? (Yes, I’m staying at the Hilton. In Manhattan. God help me and my roommate if the university deciddes not to reimburse us.)
Oh! Easy way to share information: Anna, what is the name and location of that Indian restaurant we went to for your bachlorette party? I think Reno would love it there!
He’s drunk on toys.

Grandma/Mom- Toys can also be recycled by way of his soon-to-be little cousin and then re-recycled when his sibling arrives.
Although that doesn’t have the cash advantage, it would be more environmentally friendly.
