Noah has a bad cold and little fever. It hit Wednesday morning, so we’ve been tag team taking care of him and working. Top it off with a superbusy week at work, and that equals no blogging time.
He seemed mostly better tonight, hopefully he’ll be healthy tomorrow.

Colds are miserable — especially when shared. Consider yourself hugged. Noah too. And Jill. Wish I could help in person — chicken soup, jello, rocking, getting up with Noah while you sleep, etc. Love, Mom/Grandma

Today I was tutoring a woman who is writing a chemistry thesis that includes phrases like “a medium porosity fritted glass funnel” and “boiling toluene” and words like 2-butylmethachlorodiphenylbenzihydrasulfamene. Every now and then, though, I recognize a word or acronym: mix the nitrogen, use a syringe, use TLC.
When I got to “use TLC” today I just started laughing.
The student, whose English is great when it comes to 2-butylmethachlorodiphenylbenzihydrasulfamene and not so great when it comes to American idioms, was puzzled until I explained that, in my lexicon, “TLC” means Tender Loving Care, not Thin Layer Chromatography.
I send you all lots of TLC, and not the kind that comes with boiling toluene.

Thank you! He seems to be on the mend, thankfully.
