15 Months
Posted by Liza under Personal, The Real Live Boy, Letters
UPDATED to note, from the official 15 month well baby visit, that Noah is 33″ tall (94th %), weighs 24 lbs (44th %) and has a 19″ head circumference (90th %).
The doctor wasn’t worried about the weight thing; it may be worth noting that at the ER last weekend, he weighed 24 lbs 8 oz, which is in the same percentile range (51-57%) as all of his visits since 6 months.
Dear Noah,
Today you are 15 months old. This past month has been exciting, but rough.
It seems like you’ve been sick the whole month, but I know that isn’t really true. You had croup, you went to the ER throwing up, and yesterday you were sent home from school with a fever of 102.9, although when we took you to the doctor today, they couldn’t find anything wrong.
Your language skills have continued to explode over the last month. You say “Mommy!” and “Mommy?” and “Hi!” all the time. For the longest time, you made lots of animal noises, but not the one for sheep — but this week, you figured out that sheep say “BAAAAAAAA!” I don’t know whether the sheep grin and stamp their feet when they say that.
Yesterday, you wanted to know what sound a rhino made, and I made up a throaty growly sound, which you reproduce as “Kkkkkch.” It might be the cutest sound I’ve heard you make. (Except when you say “Mommy!”)
You still love to dance, and now it mostly looks like spinning in circles until you’re so dizzy you fall down. It takes about 3 full spins. You also love to hurl yourself backwards, confident that we will catch you and hold you upside down. That’s scary! We’d like you to outgrow that phase. Also the climbing up everything, and once arriving, trying to dance in celebration on whatever the surface is.
Your mommies are exhausted, but we’re having a lot of fun. And we love you very, very, very much.
love,
Mommy
