It took a few days, but I think Noah has settled into the new day care. I love walking him there in the mornings.
The people we’ve met have been very friendly, both the staff and other parents. And today when we arrived, the tots were all having applesauce and graham crackers, so Noah didn’t even notice me leaving.
Over Memorial Day weekend, Noah cut two more teeth, bringing us up to 5.
I can’t keep track of all the new words anymore. I think his favorite one this week is “sky.”
Mostly how our conversations go is that he will look at the same or similar objects 10 times in a row and ask, “Dat?”
I’ll answer “tree” or “pig” or “penguin” all 10 times, and then we move on, mostly running around in circles or asking for GoGo. Or a cracker.
Mystery of the month: What’s so hard about pigs? Noah loves the rest of the animals, and making their noises or saying their names. Mostly the noises. Moo and bwack-bwack are more fun to say than cow and chicken. But every night, for about a month now, “Dat?” “Dat?” “Dat?”

Malka’s version of dat is EES? with the point. Point to Elmo – EES? Tha’ts Elmo, sweetie. Point to cat – EES? that’s Quincy, etc. etc. ALL DAY!
(I think it’s her way of saying what IS it, but I could be wrong)
Moo and Baa are easier to formulate with the facial muscles. Oink takes a bit more work.
