Welcome Home, Mommy
Posted by Liza under The Real Live Boy, TMI
Yesterday was bath night, and also a right of passage that marks our movement into the ranks of “real” parents. Our first “kid poops in the tub” experience.
Yuck, yuck, yuck.
Worse, the toy obsession du jour is a large set of foam cars. ALL of them were in the tub at the time. Hysteria ensued at being denied access because we felt like they needed a run through the dishwasher post poopy-tub.
Aunt Anna, look what you have to look forward to!

Hannah did the same thing last night - hysteria still ensues, even when the child is over 2 and this has happened before. BTW, the likelihood occurence is related to the number of obejects in the tub!

i knew that being a parent changes you in a lot of ways but i’m stunned to learn that someone can become so intimately familiar with poop that it becomes OK to put poop-contaminated objects IN THE DISHWASHER!!!!! (that is to say, ICK.)
it’s always an education here in mommy blogging land.

LOL!
Jen, my thought was “where can I confidently sterilize these” and the blazing hot water of the dishwasher seemed like the answer.
I hope this is reassuring — none of the toys looked poop-contaminated.

Since we are sharing . . . Our best poop in the tub story was when our 1 year old son was sharing the tub with his 4 year old sister. Because they had a bubble bath, no one noticed said son’s poop until it floated into his sister’s arm. Perhaps we should have put her in the dishwasher because she was convinced that a mere shower in a different bathroom was NOT going to resolve the ICKiness!

There’s something in the air, for sure. Henry has pooped in the tub 3 times in the last 2 weeks.
We’re pretty sure it’s because soaking in the tub makes his sore bum feel better. So, he relaxes? And…poop.
We bought an industrial size bottle of Soft Scrub.

All I can cope with looking forward to right now is more than 1 1/2 hours of sleep in a row.
…but thanks.
XOXOXO

Erin, I am so picturing the scene in my head, complete with screaming 4 year old. Probably a good thing that she was unfamiliar with the idea of amputation….

Heehee. I love that I get stories about my own niece and nephew on a blog of someone not related to me. I am laughing SO hard right now as I can picture my niece’s reaction.
