On the Road Again
Posted by Liza under Personal
Tomorrow morning around this time, I’ll be getting on the subway to go to the airport. To go to San Diego, where I will be until Friday morning. Without Jill and Noah.
Denial is probably the reason I haven’t written about this here until now.
I have this work conference, which I’m actually excited about, but I’m also nervous about leaving them. (Should help with the weaning issue, though.)
Any suggestions for making this easier? On me, or Jill, or Noah?
Any suggestions for where I should have dinner Tuesday night?

Dang, that sucks. I have no advice b/c I’ve never been able to do that. I hope the week goes by quickly for you…
BTW, we’ve been following the news on Atlanta’s water supply. How are things down there? Any better?

Well, it IS raining.
Fortunately, we’re not big gardeners, so the impact thus far has been minimal.

But feel free to send water anyway.

If I had water to spare I’d waft it east, but I live in a desert…
I will be wishing all of you much luck this week.

Best of luck. It does sound exciting, but I ache for you. That’s a lot o’ goodness to miss.
However, get ready for the best Mexican food! There’s also an awesome seafood restaurant overlooking the ocean in kind of a touristy seaside shopping complex; sorry I forgot the name (Google finds me something called Anthony’s Fish Grotto, voted “best in San Diego”). And of course wood-fired pizza at Seau’s (pronounced say-ow, after Junior, the football player). And for lunch get a fish taco from a stand on the beach. Really, I don’t know why everyone there is so skinny.

Darn! We were just in San Diego last week! We really loved walking around the gaslight district and looking at all the menus. I can’t remember where we ended up eating for the 3 days we were there, but it was all fantastic. There’s some place called Richard Walkers Pancake House (maybe the name’s not quite right, but I know it was called so and so’s Pancake House) that was AMAZING for breakfast…

I imagine you’ve already discovered this but once you’re on the plane and on your way it gets easier. You focus on the work and read a whole magazine article w/out interruption and consider it a little well-deserved break. I found it great to be able to concentrate on work; I often brought my family on long Today Show trips (Inaugurations, Royal Weddings (ta-da) and others. But sometimes, when I went for a couple of days on my own, I really enjoyed the luxury of that kind of focus. Not to want forever, just to enjoy as a treat. AND missed the guys at the same time, of course.
Hope the fires aren’t cramping your style!

Ok… is anyone else worried about the fact that San Diego is currently ON FIRE?!?
Liza- Are you ok?

Everyone–Liza is fine. Unfortunately they decided to cancel the event…AFTER they sent out an email saying it wasn’t cancelled. So she will be back home Thursday. A little smoky and jet lagged, but fine.

Oops–I’m thinking it’s already closer to the weekend than it is. She’s back Wednesday.
