Ok, Here’s What I Haven’t Said
Posted by Liza under Personal, Knocked Up Again
I’m really excited about being pregnant, but I’m incredibly nervous that it might be twins.
Here’s why:
- There were 2 mature follicles at the last ultrasound.
- My HCG levels have been consistently more than double the median for a singleton pregnancy, although just below the median for multiples. (Of course, that multiples number includes higher order multiples as well.)
- My pants already don’t fit. I’d lost a pants size from the swimming. That pants size is back. Already.
- EDITED TO ADD: Oh yeah, and the feeling sick. I don’t remember much “morning sickness” last time, but today it is all I can do to avoid tossing my cookies.
Now, I might just be hormonal. I had high HCG numbers last time, and there was only one of Noah. So I’m not freaking out yet.
But. Maybe a little.
We should know a week from today, after the first ultrasound.

twins would so totally rule. especially if they were both girls!
of course that could just be my aching womb talking.

okay, so i’m glad i didn’t have to email you and ask…because i’ve been dying to ask you how your levels were going.
can it be next week already? i feel like i’m nearly as anxious as you!

Totally possible… and also totally possible that it’s just one healthy bambino, as demonstrated by my whack levels but single sac at this am’s u/s. I will keep my fingers crossed for health, in whatever quantity, for you next week.

Someone described the second time around as being like blowing up a balloon. The first time it took a while to expand, the second time it expands a lot faster. So, that could be the explanation for the tightening waist band.

Hey girl. I spent this morning with a friend with 3-year-old IVF twins. They are spectacular. I’ve watched this family care so brilliantly for these little girls. At any point you want, I can hook you up with them.
This is very very very very exciting. If it’s twins it’s very very very very very very very very exciting! :

That’s very exciting. And scary. I don’t think I can stand the suspense for another week!

Twins would be great!
My mom was sick for the whole pregnancy with us.
She seems OK now.

Delurking (friend of Add Prob) to say congratulations. Try not to read too much into the tight pants–At 8 wks, I looked like I was 5 months along when I was pg with #2. And I had symptoms that weren’t there with #1. Each pregnancy is as unique as the baby(s) you’re carrying.
Whether there is one or two little peas in there, it’s all exciting!

Girls make you sick! Okay, my girls made me sick but my boy didn’t.
I’m so glad I found you! Last time I dropped by it was December and you were worried about not getting pregnant. And now, here you are!
Congratulations and here’s hoping you have a happy healthy nine months!

Maxim made me sick from 7 to 16 weeks. I lost 6lbs. There was only 1 of him.
…and you know how hormaonal we are Liza. That’s no secret.
I’m sure it’s just one.

We went through this same thing the last time you got “knocked up” and only one baby. (Who is energetic enough for two, so there you have it!) We already know your hormones defie the norms, (you have had a personal gynecologist since you hit puberty)as proof of this same experience last time, so not making yourself (and Jill) crazy might be a good strategy.
But if I get “two for the price of one” in the grandchild department I would be just as pleased (though a little more exhausted) as I would be with the one at a time approach.
Let me know the due date. Noah and I are going to party!!! Delta and Midwest are my new best friends.
Love, Mom

Twins would be so cool!
Then again, you and Jill would be outnumbered.
Best of luck for you and whoever’s in there.
