* We have a slot at our church day care (NAEYC accredited) starting 5/19. For 3 weeks, Noah will be in the “one year old” room, then he will move with all of his new classmates into the “two year old” room for the next year. I think his classmates include 3 of his friends from Sunday School. (Incidentally, all little blond boys.)

The center director raised concerns about all that transitioning and is going to work with us and both of Noah’s future teachers to make sure that it goes as smoothly as possible.

* We are in discussions with a home day care provider for the time between now and then. She has 2 two year old boys and an infant right now, plus her 9 year old son after school. More transitioning is better than having him somewhere that leaves us concerned about his safety.

* Noah has been waking up in the middle of the night. We’ve gated his doorway, but he still opens his door and rattles the gate until we come. Generally, Noah settles down after we re-blanket him and make sure that the critical choo-choos are right there, but it still sucks.

* I have officially entered the heartburn stage of pregnancy. It sucks even worse than I remembered it. (And I have had GERD off and on for 15 years.) Last night I ate the worst possible dinner for that and paid for it all night. I couldn’t face the idea of being horizontal at 10 pm so I fell asleep sitting up on the couch and stayed there until 2 am.

* We are going to Tampa this weekend to see the semi-finals of the Women’s Final Four and hang out with our dear friends Mikki & Claire. (Even better? Only Jill and Mikki are actually going to the game. Have I mentioned that I’m just not that sportual?)

  1. I am THRILLED for you and Noah that he is in your church day care!!! Now we will work on sending karma that way for Blur.
    Love, Mom/Grandma

  2. That sounds good. We love NAEYC accredited schools. Try to keep things as consistent at home as possible to help with the transitions and expect some issues. Thanks for the update! Good luck!

  3. Hooray for the church daycare. But not hooray for the heartburn. Yuck.

    Have a fun trip!

  4. Oh, heartburn. Daycare heartburn AND literal heartburn. Are you taking anything for it? The literal heartburn, I mean. I tried a couple of progressively-stronger but still prego-safe prescription meds for it when I was pregnant, and they were godsends. Shoot me a note offline if you want more info.

  5. So jealous of the trip to the Final Four! We’re hosting the WNIT Championships in our neck of the woods, so maybe we’ll make it out to see the women play on Saturday.

  6. G–so you’ll be seeing that school in Liza’s old neck of the woods–Marquette!

  7. Have a blast at the final four…and give big hello’s and hugs to Mikki and Clare for us!!!
