Inspired by my bloggerific friend Molly, who is anticipating her baby girl in just a couple of weeks, I want to throw open the guessing game for this baby.
Since the DOB is pretty well set as 8/30, that doesn’t seem like a fun guessing game — although if you think Esmerelda Freugenspeigel will be making an early appearance, feel free to say so. But her real name and her weight/length are fair game!
Edited 8/25 to Add: At the final prenatal appt. this morning, the doc who will be doing the c/s offered the opinion that this is also a big baby, but probably not as big as Noah.
Facts that may be helpful: Noah arrived at exactly 41 weeks, weighing 9 lbs, 7 oz, and 21.5 inches long. On 8/30, I will be 38 weeks & 4 days pregnant.
(For those of you who worry about these things, that is the absolute earliest that my health care providers would consider scheduling a c-section, absent a specific and compelling medical reason to do it earlier. We negotiated such an early date for immensely complicated reasons balancing health, insurance, layoff, the freaking holiday weekend, etc. Their regular practice for scheduling a c-section is between 39-41 weeks.)
Anyway. How big is this baby going to be, and what are we naming her?

She’ll be 8 lbs, 4 oz, and you’re naming her Ruth
Boy I was all ready to throw out a weight and length until you asked for a name guess…hadn’t thought about that one! I can’t wait to hear what you guys have chosen for her, as I do love Noah’s name. I’ll guess Madelyn since we had a playdate with a Madelyn this morning, and then I’m going with 8lbs 4oz, 21 inches long.
Just found out Esmerelda and baby Marin will be born six days apart, provided neither of us go into labor beforehand. Three cheers for having babies soon!!
Hmm. OK, gonna go with 7lb 7oz, 20.5 inches and named… Esmerelda! ‘Cause nothing throws people off the scent of a name like telling them the real one.
My guess is She will be named Marie or some variation there of. Middle name… I dunno, Godzilla? – after your favorite baby doll?
I think she will be 8lbs 3oz and 20″ Long.
Is there a prize?
Ok, I haven’t a clue for a name, but I’m going to guess 19″ and 8lbs 8oz!
7lb, 5 oz; 21 inches long
You will name her Catherine and call her Katie.
Weight: 7 lb 15 oz
Name: Esme Marie or Joy Elizabeth
I’m with Anna on the name guess — including the middle name. (Anna, wanna share the prize?) If you pick Esmerelda I’m using my own pet name for her, which I will not tell you until necessary.
As to weight and length, given her visible physical presence albeit in current camouflage situation, I’m going with 8 pounds 6 oz and 21 inches. You do seem to produce the large economy size.
Love, Mom
I am guessing Emma and the same size as Noah because, yes, I am that original.
8 lb 9 ox, 20 inches long.
Names? Hmmm. What about Genevieve? You can call her Ginny. Luke and I love that name, but because there aren’t any As, I’m leaning against it. (Yes, I’m a freak.)
hmmmm…maybe an -ah name to go with noah?
8lb 8oz, 20.5in
Hannah Marie
