The adorable and oh so mature J, aka Monkey #3, tagged Noah for a baby meme! Thanks J! (And J’s Mommy, the incredibly nice and helpful S.)

3 Things That Scare Me

  1. Losing my balance when I’m sitting.
  2. When anyone restrains my arms in the carseat’s seatbelt. (What if I needed to get away???)
  3. Very very loud and unexpected noises.

3 People That Make Me Laugh

  1. My mommy.
  2. My other mommy.
  3. Miss Lorraine at school.

3 Things I Love

  1. People. Especially women. Especially if they’re pretty.
  2. When my mommies sing me silly songs. Or rock & roll. Which sounds even sillier than the silly songs.
  3. The ceiling fan in my living room.

Things I Hate

  1. When mommy doesn’t let me play with that cool plastic bag that makes the crinkley sound.
  2. Being made to lie down for a diaper change. But they insist.
(Noah is also stealing this. It’s a new hatred that came along with being able to sit up.)
  3. Having my arms put in sleeves. Can’t my mommies see that I was holding something in that hand and busy? I have no time for being dressed!

3 Things I Don’t Understand

  1. This horrible pain in my mouth. If I need those white things, I’ll grab them from Mommy’s mouth.
  2. How come my best friend the ceiling fan sometimes just sits there ignoring me, instead of spinning around and around for me.
  3. Why you people sit me in a funny chair and put stuff in my mouth. I  just want to play with the shiny objects you use to get the stuff to my mouth.

3 Things On My Desk/Table (or my highchair)

  1. A washcloth.
  2. A backup bib.
  3. Drool.

3 Things I’m Doing Right Now

  1. Sitting!
  2. Jamming absolutely anything in reach into my mouth. And biting down hard.
  3. Crawling about 18" backwards and getting seriously annoyed that I’m now further away from the toy I wanted.

3 Things I Want to Do Before I Die

  1. See the world.
  2. Fall in love. (Mutually. I don’t want to do it all alone! That would suck.)
  3. Use my strengths and skills to make a difference.

3 Things I Can Do

  1. Give big wet drooly kisses.
  2. Charm people.
  3. Get up on my hands and feet.

3 Ways to Describe My Personality

  1. Good natured
  2. Determined
  3. Curious

3 Things I Can’t Do

  1. Crawl. (Yet!)
  2. Get myself into the sitting position without help.
  3. Fall asleep without getting mad about it.

3 Things I Think You Should Listen To

  1. My mommies singing. It’s funny!
  2. Me giggling.
  3. That Jack Johnson CD, Curious George, that my friend Alex sent me.

3 Things I Think You Should Never Listen To

  1. The sound of a car NOT in motion. When they stop, you aren’t almost there, no matter what anyone tries to tell you.
  2. The ads on Bravo. Or is it TNT? They’re really loud! Sometimes they wake me up when mommy isn’t fast enough with the remote.
  3. The phone when I’m trying to eat.

3 Absolute Favorite Foods

  1. Mommy’s Milk
  2. Mommy’s Milk
  3. Mommy’s Milk

3 Things I’d Like to Learn

  1. How to crawl forward.
  2. How to stand.
  3. How to tell people what I want.

3 Beverages I Drink Regularly

  1. Mommy’s Milk
  2. Mommy’s Milk mixed with formula
  3. Very watery apple juice

3 Shows I Watched as a Kid

  1. Law & Order – SVU
  2. Law & Order – CI
  3. Law & Order (Mommy can’t hold a book when she’s nursing. She keeps trying, but it really doesn’t work very well.)
  4. Mommy reminded me that we also have watched The Facts of Life first season DVD set several times.

3 Babies I Tag

  1. Alex
  2. Levi
  3. Mini & Jr (Can I count them on one line, even though they’re two babies? Well, big kids to me. Too bad. I’m going to anyway. But I promise I know that they’re different people.)

Hi Mommy!

We had so many adventures on our trip to DC last weekend that we are still catching up at home. It was fun, but exhausting.

On Friday, we left early in the morning, but our plane had mechanical problems and was delayed — after we were on board — for a little over 2 hours.

Can you drive this thing?Noah didn’t mind.

After we got to DC, we drove over to meet Grandma & Grandpa, who hadn’t gotten to meet Noah yet. (Grandma tried!)

Noah had a great time playing with his grandparents. As you can see, he likes pulling Grandma’s hair as much as he likes ours. Sadly, I didn’t have the camera ready when he tilted over while sitting on the kitchen table, landing ear-first in the sugar bowl.

From Grandma & Grandpa’s we went to meet Leta for coffee. Noah liked Leta, and I don’t think it was just because he got to chew on her sunglasses for at least half an hour.

Everybody was tired, in spite of the caffine, so we headed over to Aunt Mikki & Aunt Claire’s for a little rest and to unload our bags. It was very exciting to see their new house, and we all wondered what Noah would think when he saw their cats. (Which they very generously segregated into one part of the house while we were there, since I’m allergic.)

Of course, eventually, it was time for dinner, so we trooped out to actor-hangout Barnaby’s where Noah met many admirers, plus new buddies Brighton and Levi. He wanted to meet Natalie, but she had a previous engagement.

Wow were we tired by the end of dinner.

Saturday was Jill’s HS Reunion. There was a picnic (indoors, thankfully) in the afternoon and a fancy dinner & dance in the evening.

Noah was a big hit at the picnic, which was held in the high school cafeteria!

Part 2 of the exciting weekend will have to wait, or this will never get posted. Suffice it to say that a good time was had by all.

I think Noah must be teething.

For the last two evenings, he’s been a clingy, crabby, crier, demanding to be held and nursed but not going to sleep and sometimes even crying and yelling while nursing.

This is totally out of character.

Tonight, we tried giving him some baby tylenol after this had been going on for about 45 minutes, and although the act of giving him the drugs was recieved much like the ungodly humiliation and torture associated with being put in a car seat or having his arms put in pyjamas, within 10 minutes he was no longer crying or writhing, and within 20 he was asleep. This (giving the medicine, not the sleepingmommy blogger was also sleep deprived, can you tell?) was only marginally worse than having him screaming and nursing, sometimes off and on, sometimes simultaneously.

More baby tylenol will be administered in the morning.

I still can’t feel the teeth, but I’m trying to convince myself that I can see something on his lower gumline.

Must.Go.Take.Last.Gummy.Toothless.Grin.Pictures. He will never be a cute toothless baby again if my suspicious are right. Sniffle.

PS I think I’m going to love the new job. Training is extremely interesting, and I think that 6 months from now when I’m in the groove of the routine aspects of the job, it will offer a lot of cool opportunities to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.

Last night, Noah only let me get 4.5 hours of sleep. So I am still not posting about the weekend.

To keep you entertained in the mean time, and because it’s Katie’s Birthday, here are the lyrics to a song we sing to Noah at least twice per day. Even when he’s crying, it usually makes him smile and cry less during the active singing.

(To the tune of We Love You Conrad Normal American Boy from Bye Bye Birdie)

We love you No-o-ah,
Oh yes we do-oo-oo!
We love you No-o-ah,
This much is true-oo-oo!
When you’re not near us,
We’re blue!
Oh, Noah, we love you!

The only reason I know the original lyrics at all is because Katie was in BBB our sophmore year in high school.

I’ve noticed recently that lots of us are updating the look, functionality, and/or locations of our blogs. And a few brave souls have been trying mobile blogging and audio posts.

Personally, I’m on the bandwagon. I bought the domain LizaWasHere.com and as soon as I can figure out how to get out of the generic wordpress theme, I’ll be moving over there with this. I want all the bells and whistles and I want to play with the same toys as the cool kids. I even might have to join the 21st century and get some speakers for my computer so I can check out this podcasting business. (I like it quiet. Jill has speakers on her computer if I really need to listen to something.)

But I read a really interesting post today that suggests maybe that’s not what’s important to a successful blog. What’s actually important is good writing and regular posting & commenting. Dan is more talking to corporate bloggers, but I think all of us would be excited to generate more readers, and it’s nice to be reminded that there is no magic pill that would make us suddenly make the Technorati Top 100 list.

If you’re on the "I need a cooler blog" bandwagon too, go read Dan’s post before you make the changes.

(And don’t think that I was criticizing anyone who has recently made big blog changes. I love your changes. I’m on your bandwagon. I just think it’s interesting to think about the fundamentals as well as the cool themes and wild technology.)

Yup, I have some funny lookin’ cells.

But just a little, only warranting quarterly doctor visits for the next year, just to make sure they don’t get more funny lookin’. And I just heard on the radio that my insurance company and my doctor are back together. Yippie!

We’ll be checking back on this subject in October or November.

Noah slept a record amount today. 2 naps of 45 minutes each, plus a 2 hour & 15 minute doozy, and was still crankyfussytired at 7:04 pm. I’m hot on his heels. Recovery’s a bitch.

My new job started today, and even though it was mostly an informal day of talking with the new boss about various aspects of the job — and also explaining that I needed to take a 20-30 minute break every ~2.5-3 hours to go pump — it was still on the high-energy side. I was all keyed up with anticipation and wanting to make a good impression.

I still think it’s going to be a lot of fun. (But I am a little nervous since he’s going out on a big flyfishing vacation next week.)

But I am tired and am going to go drink some watery apple juice and go to bed instead of blogging about the trip. Have some more pictures of Noah from the trip while you wait to hear the details.

Noah & Aunt Mikki
Here’s Noah hanging out in the living room with Aunt Mikki. Don’t you love his bib?

Noah Loves Jill's Reunion

Mom, who ARE all these people and why are you making me get my picture taken with them???

OH YEAH, and I heard that BlogHer was really really really really great. The theme was "How is your blog changing the world?" The blog guy from my office even went and had a blast. I’m so jealous!

Who wants to go next year?
